Community Mental Health Nurse | Kent and Medway Mental Health NHS Trust

Part-time


Ashford & Canterbury Mental Health Together+ is a diverse multi-cultural team that is looking to recruit a Band 6 Mental Health Nurseto work within the team, providing specialist mental health care for people with multiple and complex needs that require intensive support and to take a lead role in the Clozapine and Depot Clinics and development of the Physical Health Clinic.

You will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of physical health care for service users. You are expected to be a good team worker and have the ability to supervise, teach and develop the physical health care skills of the junior members of the team as well as acting as a positive role model for all staff and be able to lead in areas of clinical practice and development.

You are expected to carry out all relevant forms of care and for ensuring the effective safe co-ordination of the physical health care of service users.

A knowledge of working in a clinic and managing clozapine medication is required, alongside physical health monitoring such as blood investigations and ECGs.

As part of the Band 6 Nursing team you will be required to hold a mentoring qualification.

Our service focuses on promoting recovery for those people diagnosed with severe and enduring mental ill health. We provide comprehensive multi-disciplinary services and work closely with local specialist mental health teams, tertiary service providers, primary care, local statutory and non-statutory agencies, service users and carers.

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Mental Health Professional. You will have a strong sense of initiative and an excellent team working ability.

Effective communication skills and self-governance are required. You will be able to demonstrate knowledge of high level interventions & community nursing skills. Existing qualifications or a willingness to undertake training relevant to the post is expected.

The post holder must hold a full, valid, UK driving licence and have access to a car/vehicle to use for business purposes (unless you have a disability as defined by the Equality Act 2010).

The post holder will be expected to work across the team's sites, and to visit service users at home.

• Carry out and coordinate comprehensive, systematic nursing assessments which take account of relevant mental, physical, social, cultural, psychological, spiritual, and environmental factors, in partnership with service user and others through interaction, observation and measurement.
