Senior Residential Childcare Worker

£13.3 - £15.6 per hourEstimated
Full-time

At Carraig View, we create the kind of environment where children and young people can feel safe, valued, and ready to take their next steps. With stunning views across the Firth of Clyde, our home sits proudly on the edge of Port Glasgow. It is a place where young people can build confidence, connect with others, and take part in everyday life through school, activities, and new friendships. Our team are passionate about helping every young person feel they belong.

As a Lead Practitioner, you will play a key role in creating a safe, nurturing and therapeutic home for children and young people. Alongside building positive relationships, you will provide leadership on shift, supporting colleagues to deliver high-quality care while ensuring children and young people experience stability, opportunity and a genuine sense of belonging.

What you will do

* Lead and coordinate shifts, ensuring the smooth running of the service.
* Support colleagues to deliver high-quality, trauma-informed care.
* Make confident decisions that promote the safety and wellbeing of children and young people.
* Develop and review assessments, care plans and risk assessments.
* Build positive, trusting relationships with children, young people and families.
* Create opportunities for fun, learning and meaningful experiences.
* Work collaboratively with professionals to achieve positive outcomes.
* Maintain accurate records and reports.

About you

You will be an experienced childcare practitioner who is passionate about leading a shift and developing the team on shift. You will understand the importance of relationship-based and trauma-informed practice and will lead by example, inspiring colleagues to deliver consistently high standards of care.

You will be resilient, remain calm under pressure and demonstrate strong decision-making skills, confidently responding to changing circumstances while promoting the safety and wellbeing of children and young people. You will support and develop colleagues, fostering a positive, collaborative environment where everyone can thrive.

You will be passionate about helping children and young people achieve their potential, creating opportunities that build confidence, resilience and positive memories.

Lead Practitioners are required to be registered with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) and have, or attain within the registration period, the minimum qualification of HNC Social Care and SVQ Level 3. A full manual driving licence is essential. This role also requires PVG Scheme membership.

Why work with us?

At CrossReach, we believe every child and young person deserves the opportunity to thrive. You'll be part of a supportive team where your leadership, ideas and experience will help shape positive futures.

Ready to take the next step in your childcare career? Apply today.

We also offer you a range of benefits that you would expect from an organisation that support others.

Firstly, there is access to a wide range of exclusive retail and leisure discounts through our rewards scheme and the Blue Light Discount card. We also ensure that your future and that of your loved ones is secured with a generous contributory pension plan and death in service benefit. Balancing work and family are made easier with our suite of enhanced family friendly policies and your health and wellness are prioritised with access to our health cash plan, giving you cash back for a wide range of health treatments. We even have access to a care concierge service to assist you with life's challenges, providing invaluable support when you need it most.

But we also know that your training and development is important to you, and as well as a contribution to your professional membership fees, we are keen to support you in making the right steps to learn, grow and develop in ways that are right for you.

CrossReach has been at the forefront of high quality social care for over 150 years, providing loving care to people of all ages and supporting them to live life to the full whatever their circumstances. This permission is without exception granted by UK Visas and Immigrations. We are required to check the entitlement to work in the UK of all prospective employees, regardless of nationality or job category.
