Highly Specialised Paediatric Respiratory Physiotherapist

Job Summary
Due to a maternity leave within our team, we have an opportunity for an enthusiastic and skilled physiotherapist with an interest and passion for paediatric respiratory management to join the paediatric respiratory physiotherapy service. The acute children's therapy team is a dynamic team made up of physiotherapists, occupational therapists, dietitians, speech and language therapists and play specialists. The team sit in the children's division and provides clinical care across all acute in-patient areas from critical care, wards, day case and outpatients. You will provide specialist assessments and management of children and young people. You will have shared responsibility for respiratory physiotherapy input for our children and young people with chronic respiratory needs. You will provide input in the community to avoid hospital admissions or to facilitate discharge and participate in MDT and physiotherapy lead clinics. The post holder will develop band 6 rotational therapists and student therapy staff as well as the pathways within paediatric therapies. You will have a strong working relationship paediatric MDT, especially the respiratory consultants and CNS teams. Main duties of the job
The role will be jointly responsible for the management of children with chronic respiratory conditions either as a primary diagnosis (e.g bronchiectasis, CF or PCD) or as part of the management of their neurodisability or neuromuscular condition. The postholder will work closely alongside the LTV and CF/PCD physiotherapists and wider respiratory MDT. They will act as a source of expertise in the Physiotherapy management of children with both complex needs and respiratory complications; providing an advisory and liaison service to patients, families/carers, physiotherapy colleagues and other healthcare professionals, including GP and Consultants, within the Northeast London and wider region. The role will primarily be based in outpatient and community settings, with a lead role in the Children's Community Respiratory Physiotherapy Service. The postholder will be expected have strong team working skills and be able to work flexibly. They should have excellent communication and time management skills allowing them to work dynamically, adapting to the changing needs of the outpatient/community caseload. The postholder should be confident using their knowledge of the current evidence base and advanced clinical reasoning, to ensure interventions meet the holistic needs of the child, helping prevent admissions or facilitate discharge.
