As a service we work in partnership with outreach teams and offer a late service to support residents who require flexible support around their working lives.

Role Responsibility

Our Interim Response Wellbeing Workers act as ‘keyworkers’, holding a caseload of service users and supporting them to identify treatment goals and plans to achieve them, while reducing the very real risks to their physical and mental health and overall wellbeing.

This role combines interim response, assertive outreach and safeguarding functions, with a strong focus on supporting some of the most vulnerable and harder-to-engage individuals in the borough, including rough sleepers and those experiencing multiple disadvantage. You will work collaboratively with partners such as Local Enforcement Teams (LET), Rough Sleeper Outreach Teams, Local Authority teams and Substance Use Supported Housing services.

You will actively engage individuals in the community, supporting them to access treatment, reduce harm, and improve their overall wellbeing, often working flexibly and responsively to meet their needs.

The role sits within core service management structure, however will work across multiple teams as required, while also responding to various priority areas across the service, including ad hoc projects. Responsibilities include maintaining regular contact with clients, delivering advice, information and psychosocial interventions, completing assessments, undertaking risk management planning, and working closely with clinical staff and partner agencies.

Due to the outreach and responsive nature of the role, you will be required to work flexibly across a structured shift pattern that includes early and late shifts.

No day is the same in this role, but the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of service users and professionals – both internal and external – and to manage competing priorities is essential, alongside a strong commitment to Turning Point values.

The Ideal Candidate

You’ll have experience of working with service users with multiple and complex needs and a sound understanding of safeguarding and risk management frameworks. You will be confident working collaboratively with a range of professionals and able to adapt your approach across different pathways and settings, including community and outreach environments.

You’ll understand substance and alcohol use and the challenges individuals face on a recovery journey, including relapse and barriers to engagement. Experience of assertive outreach or working with harder-to-reach groups (e.g. rough sleepers or those in supported housing) would be advantageous.

The role requires flexibility, resilience and the ability to work dynamically both one-to-one and in group settings. Strong communication skills and alignment with Turning Point’s values are essential.
