Assistant Production Manager
Location: St oke-On-Trent
Salary: Up to £42,000 per annum
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am - 5:30pm About the Role An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Assistant Production Manager to join a well-established manufacturing business. This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll support the day-to-day management of production operations across two manufacturing sites, ensuring production runs safely, efficiently, and in line with customer requirements. Working closely with the Production Manager, you'll lead and develop small production teams, drive continuous improvement initiatives, and play an active role on the shop floor to help achieve operational excellence. Key Responsibilities Support the planning and coordination of daily production activities across two manufacturing sites
Ensure production targets are achieved while maintaining quality, efficiency and safety standards
Monitor production performance and resolve operational issues to minimise downtime
Adapt production plans to meet changing customer demands and business priorities
Provide hands-on support within production when required
Lead, motivate and develop small multi-skilled production teams
Allocate labour effectively to maximise productivity and operational efficiency
Promote a positive, collaborative and accountable working environment
Ensure compliance with Health & Safety policies, procedures and safe working practices
Carry out workplace inspections and support investigations into accidents and near misses
Monitor product quality, investigate non-conformances and support corrective actions
Assist with cost control by reducing waste, improving efficiencies and supporting continuous improvement initiatives
Monitor production KPIs and identify opportunities to improve performance
Maintain accurate stock levels and support inventory control and stock counts
Liaise with internal departments including Purchasing, Sales Administration and Accounts to ensure smooth operational performance
Provide regular production updates to senior management What We're Looking For Previous experience in a Production Supervisor, Assistant Production Manager or similar leadership role within a manufacturing environment
Experience managing batch production or multi-product manufacturing processes
Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop teams
Good understanding of production planning and scheduling
Excellent knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and best practice
Experience monitoring production performance, KPIs and quality standards
Stock control and inventory management experience
Strong organisational, problem-solving and decision-making skills
Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office
Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel between two local manufacturing sites Desirable IOSH Managing Safely or a similar Health & Safety qualification
Experience with continuous improvement or lean manufacturing techniques
Background within material processing, manufacturing, recycling, coatings, minerals or similar industries
