NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.

The shift pattern for this post is 9am-5pm, Monday to Friday plus On Call Rota.

Applications are invited to join an established, enthusiastic team delivering clinical care within the scenic region of Inverclyde. The successful applicant should have an interest in supporting the career progression of trainees as well as contributing to the inspiring departmental teaching program.

This is a 10 session inpatient/outpatient post, with in-patients at Inverclyde Royal Hospital and outpatient services delivered from Crown House, Greenock. The department has 3.0 wte consultant psychiatrists and 1 wte SAS doctor. GP, foundation and core trainees are attached on rotation. Each consultant manages their own caseload, with inpatients allocated on a rotational basis. There is well established local division group who meet regularly, and good working links with colleagues across sub-specialties.

Applicants must have full GMC Registration, a license to practise and eligible for inclusion in the GMC Specialist Register. Those trained in the UK should have evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT or be within 6 months of confirmed entry from the date of interview. CESR (Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration) route doctors are only eligible to apply for a substantive consultant post once CESR is awarded. Non-UK applicants must demonstrate equivalent training.

The job is offered as a full-time post on a 10 PA basis but applications will be considered from those wishing to work less than full-time. Up to 2 EPA’s may be available to undertake additional outpatient and/or procedure sessions or management activity.

All newly qualified Consultants are initially offered a minimum of 1 Core Supporting Professional Activity (SPA) which includes CPD, audit, clinical governance, appraisal, revalidation, job planning and management meetings. An additional non DCC PA will form part of the core job plan for professional clinical development.
