Psychology Teacher | Leicester
An academically ambitious Independent Secondary School in Leicester is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Psychology Teacher to join its successful Social Sciences Department. This is an exciting opportunity for a teacher who is passionate about Psychology and enjoys encouraging students to think critically, question established ideas and apply psychological theory to real-world situations.
Psychology teaching opportunities in Leicester currently include roles focused on KS4 and KS5, with strong emphasis on examination preparation, research methods, analytical writing and developing students' understanding of key psychological approaches.
The successful candidate will join a professional and collaborative department where academic achievement is valued and students are encouraged to develop genuine intellectual curiosity.
The Role
You will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging Psychology lessons across KS4 and KS5. You will introduce students to a broad range of psychological perspectives, research studies and contemporary issues while helping them develop the analytical and evaluative skills required to succeed in examinations.
A strong understanding of research methods will be particularly important, alongside the ability to help students interpret evidence, evaluate psychological theories and construct well-developed written arguments.
You will also contribute to assessment, curriculum planning and departmental activities, working closely with colleagues to ensure students receive consistent and high-quality teaching.
Key Responsibilities

Encourage discussion, debate and critical evaluation
Prepare students thoroughly for GCSE and A-Level examinations
Develop students' analytical and extended-writing skills

Use relevant psychological research and contemporary examples to enrich lessons
Maintain high expectations of behaviour, effort and academic achievement
Contribute to departmental planning and curriculum development
Work collaboratively with colleagues across the Social Sciences Department
Support enrichment activities and wider academic opportunities
Promote independent study and effective revision strategies
The School Environment
The school offers a supportive and academically focused environment where students are encouraged to take responsibility for their learning and develop confidence in their abilities. The Psychology Department benefits from a strong emphasis on subject knowledge, examination success and developing students' ability to think independently.
Staff work collaboratively and are encouraged to share resources, ideas and effective teaching strategies. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to contribute to the continued development of Psychology provision while working alongside experienced colleagues.
The role would suit an experienced Psychology Teacher looking for a new challenge, although applications from ECTs with strong subject knowledge and a genuine passion for Psychology will also be considered.
