Case Manager (Court of Protection)

About The Role

We are currently looking for a Case Manager to join our Court of Protection team in our Bristol office. This is a great opportunity to join a successful and supportive team, in a role you can have a genuine positive impact on the individuals you are working with.

Day to day, you’ll be successful in this role by:

As part of our Court of Protection (COP) team, you will support our Deputies in managing the financial affairs of clients who are unable to do so themselves. These clients may lack capacity due to injury, illness, or other circumstances, and your work will play a vital role in supporting their independence, wellbeing, and quality of life.

Regular duties will include but are not limited to:

• Being the main point of contact for clients / third parties.
• Complete monthly cabinet check exercise.
• Raising CW bills as appropriate.
• Reviewing care funding position and completing financial assessments, making funding applications as/when required. Managing funding where applicable including direct payments.
• Completion of necessary checklists and reviews (Initial Appointment, New Admin Year, Monthly, Property sale / purchase, Moving home, Deceased)
• Complete annual Benefit Reviews making new claims as/when required. Updating DWP of relevant changes as appropriate.
• Arranging necessary Insurance
• Obtaining Quotes.
• Checking OPG reports and referring as required.
• Dealing with Post
• Managing emails received via COP email inbox
• Finalising annual visit checklist and undertaking the annual deputy visit (where appropriate).
• Arranging and preparing for annual IFA meetings
• Managing employment of carers including monthly payroll arrangements
• Managing receipt of Periodical payments including evidencing proof of life
• Authorising payments on HSBC.net
• Deputy Accounts / Reconciliation.
• Draft Best Interest Decisions (for deputy approval)

This is a busy role with deadlines and competing priorities. You will need to work quickly, accurately, and efficiently, while remaining calm under pressure and thinking ahead to meet the needs of both your team and clients.

We are a sociable and friendly team—busy and hardworking but committed to maintaining a healthy work/life balance. We work closely together and typically spend two to three days per week in the Bristol office.

Our working hours are Monday to Friday 9-5:30.

This role is right for you if

You may have experience in a previous case manager role, where you are experienced in supporting vulnerable indviduals or you may be a non-legal graduate or individuals looking transition into an office-based role within the legal sector. We are also interested in hearing from individuals who have a keen interest in the development and use of AI.

You will thrive in this role if you enjoy managing your own workload, working to deadlines, and operating with minimal supervision. You will be highly organised, proactive, and adaptable, with a positive “can-do” attitude.

We’re looking for someone who takes pride in delivering a first-class support service—someone who anticipates needs, pays close attention to detail, and approaches their work with professionalism, honesty, and integrity.

You will have strong written and verbal communication skills (including excellent spelling and grammar), be confident using Microsoft Office applications such as Excel and Outlook, and be comfortable learning new systems and databases.

Just as importantly, you will have a caring and empathetic nature. You will see this role as more than just a job, taking your responsibilities to our vulnerable clients seriously, no matter how big or small the task. You will understand that attention to detail is critical when managing people’s lives and finances and be motivated to go the extra mile.

You will be personable, approachable, and have a genuine interest in supporting vulnerable adults and developing your knowledge of Court of Protection work.

Equally important is your attitude and willingness to learn. Training will be provided to support your development and enable you to make a real difference. We are looking for someone who can demonstrate initiative, problem-solving ability, and a commitment to continuous improvement.

• Mental Capacity Act 2010
• Court of Protection Rules and associated practice directions
