School Admin Officer
£26.4k - £28.6k per annumFull-time
Required to work term time only plus 2 weeks during summer holidays. 8am-4pm. Wingate Nursery School is looking for an exceptionally organised, warm, friendly and enthusiastic School Admin Officer to join our office team. We are a unique and ambitious nursery school, committed to giving our youngest children the very best start in life. Our children learn across a range of environments, including our main school site, cottage and allotment sites and we place strong relationships with children, families and our community at the heart of everything we do. This is much more than an office role. Our Admin Officer is a vital part of the school community and is often the first person the families, visitors and professionals meet or speak to.
We are looking for someone who is friendly, approachable, calm, professional and highly organised — someone who can make people feel welcome while also keeping on top of the many different demands of a busy school office. You will work closely with the Headteacher and staff team, helping to ensure that the school runs smoothly and efficiently every day. We are looking for someone who:
• Is exceptionally organised and able to manage competing priorities
• Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Is confident, friendly and approachable with children, families, colleagues and visitors
• Has excellent attention to detail and takes pride in their work
• Is confident using IT and school administration systems
• Can work independently and use their own initiative
• Can remain calm and positive when things get busy
• Understands the importance of confidentiality and safeguarding
• Is reliable, flexible and willing to support the wider life of the school
• Enjoys being part of a team and contributes positively to our school culture
• Shares our belief that every child matters and every family should feel valued and welcomed Previous experience of working in a school or education setting would be advantageous, but we are more interested in finding the right person — someone with the skills, attitude, warmth and commitment to become an important part of our team. Why join Wingate Nursery School?
You will be joining a school with a strong sense of purpose, where staff are valued and where we are passionate about providing an exceptional experience for our children and families. This is an opportunity to become part of a creative, forward-thinking and ambitious team and play an important role in a school that is proud of what it achieves. If you are an organised, positive and caring person who takes pride in doing things well, we would love to hear from you.
Completed application forms should be returned to the school. Closing date: Friday 25 September 2026
Interview date: Thursday 1 October 2026Term time only plus two additional weeks’ pay is calculated on the basis of the following:
• Number of ‘teaching’ weeks – 38 weeks; plus
• Public (bank) holidays – 1.6 weeks (8 days); plus
• Two additional weeks, inclusive of CPD – 2 weeks; plus
• Individual leave entitlement - 5.4 weeks (27 days) or 6.4 weeks (32 days)
Individual leave entitlement is calculated on the length of continuous service. Employees with less than 5 years’ service will receive 27 days annual leave. Employees with more than 5 years’ service will receive 32 days annual leave. For example:
Calculation for employees with less than 5 years’ service:

Calculation for employees with more than 5 years’ service:
40 weeks (term time plus 2) + 32 days (annual leave) + 8 days (public holidays) = 48 weeks’ pay, to be paid in 12 equal monthly instalments We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and, if successful, you will need to apply for an enhanced DBS disclosure.
