As a Commercial Operations Specialist , you will be responsible for reviewing customer enquiries, determining and validating appropriate technical and commercial solutions, and leading bid-related activities for the assigned region. You will play a key role in ensuring proposals are completed on time, meet customer requirements, and align with Baker Hughes commercial policies and processes.

In addition to core Commercial Operations responsibilities, you will take ownership of the contract review process, act as a focal point for contractual risk management within the team, and support the maintenance of customer contracts and MSAs across the region. You will also provide coaching, training, and operational support to strengthen Commercial Operations capabilities and drive continuous improvement.

As a Commercial Operations Specialist, you will be responsible for:
  • Preparing and Reviewing Commercial Proposals: Preparing and reviewing tenders, proposals, and pre-qualification responses, including technical, commercial, and contractual aspects of bid documentation.
  • Managing Bid Preparation Activities: Leading all aspects of bid preparation in accordance with PPS business rules and Inquiry-to-Order (ITO) processes while coordinating with regional leadership on bid-related matters.
  • Supporting Bid Strategy Development: Working closely with Sales teams to formulate bid strategies, identify Deal and Risk Review requirements, and mitigate commercial risks during the proposal phase.
  • Maintaining Commercial Systems Accuracy: Ensuring all relevant bid-related information is accurately entered and maintained within Baker Hughes commercial systems in a timely manner.
  • Driving Process Excellence: Developing a strong understanding of Commercial Operations processes and systems while contributing to process simplification initiatives that reduce cycle time, improve service quality, and lower costs.
  • Collaborating Across Functions: Building strong working relationships with Sales, Legal, Finance, Tax, Operations, and other stakeholders to ensure effective communication and successful bid execution.
  • Supporting Scope and Proposal Development: Working closely with local Operations teams to ensure proposals accurately reflect scope of work, assumptions, and project requirements.
  • Coordinating Technical Assessments: Partnering with Applications Engineering teams to ensure technical evaluations are completed accurately and within required timelines.
  • Managing Key Commercial Agreements: Working with Regional Commercial Operations, Sales, and Operations Leadership to support key customer accounts, contract renewals, master service agreements, and tender opportunities.
  • Supporting Contract Risk Management: Providing coaching, guidance, and escalation support related to contractual risk management activities across the Commercial Operations team.
  • Delivering Training and Development: Coordinating, facilitating, and delivering Commercial Operations training for both new and existing team members.
  • Supporting Regional Leadership: Acting as primary backup for the Regional Commercial Operations Manager and serving as a focal point for the team during periods of absence.

To be successful in this role you will:
  • Have a Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college, or a High School Diploma/GED with significant relevant industry experience.
  • Have experience in Proposals, Commercial Operations, Tendering, Bid Management, or a related commercial function.
  • Demonstrate strong knowledge of contract review, commercial processes, and risk management principles.
  • Have experience managing multiple bids, projects, and priorities simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
  • Possess strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal and leadership skills with the ability to influence others and lead initiatives of moderate scope and impact.
  • Have experience working within cross-functional teams to develop competitive and commercially sound proposals.

Preferred Characteristics
  • Have significant experience executing contract risk management processes within a commercial environment.
  • Have experience coaching, mentoring, and training team members on commercial and contractual processes.
  • Demonstrate a strong track record of identifying, developing, and implementing continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Have the ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining a high level of quality and attention to detail.
  • Be a proactive and customer-focused professional with a strong commercial mindset.
