Pay: Circa £29,000-£30,000 DOE
JOB PURPOSE
To minimise CNC lathe downtime and maximize manufacturing efficiency by preparing, assembling, and precisely measuring high-quality tooling kits for Machine Setters prior to production. This role drives operational excellence by maintaining an optimal tooling inventory, monitoring tool wear, and actively identifying opportunities to improve tool life and reduce production costs. The position is responsible for health & safety, quality and ensuring accurate data is recorded. MAIN DUTIES
⦁ Ensure that any health and safety guidelines are followed in accordance with the EHS organisational arrangements roles and responsibilities, including maintaining (and improving were possible) 5S standards and ensuring the correct PPE is worn.
⦁ Build and assemble CNC lathe tooling combinations, including boring bars, live tools and turning inserts following setup sheets and technical drawings.
⦁ Package and deliver organised tooling kits directly to CNC setters
⦁ Monitor, log and maintain tool room inventory, ensuring a continuous supply of parts
⦁ Inspect, clean and strip return tooling, check for damage or wear before replenishing
⦁ Analyse insert wear, track tool life and collaborate with engineering to suggest upgrades that reduce cycle times and costs
⦁ Input and update tool dimensions, locations and inventory levels
⦁ Ensuring that the appropriate TPM is undertaken. - Routine maintenance Jobholder requirements:
⦁ Proven experience of CNC machining environment
⦁ Tooling expertise, specifically cutting tools (insert grades, coatings etc)
⦁ Ability to interpret technical drawings
⦁ Precision management of hand measurement tools and digital/optical tool presetting equipment
⦁ Proactive mindset - actively seeking ways to optimise process, improve tool life and reduce waste Benefits:
