We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health services to a population of over 1.15 million people, and to a wider population of 2.2 million when regional and national services are included.
The role:
This post is pivotal to provide comprehensive secretarial and administrative service to Consultants and their teams. To act as a focal point for the provision of help and advice to staff members, patients and professionals in relation to service enquiries and co-ordinate the patient’s pathway within an already busy department as well as providing support to an extremely busy admin team.
The department provides a full range of professional administrative, secretarial and clerical services which support clinical staff to deliver high quality, efficient and effective patient-centred care within Acute Services, in line with local and national standards
Band 2 roles are not eligible for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker or Health and Care Worker visa routes.
All other roles will be assessed for sponsorship eligibility in line with current Home Office requirements. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) can only issue a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) where these are met.

Key responsibilities:
Providing high‑quality secretarial support to medical and nursing staff
Handling telephone and face‑to‑face enquiries from staff, patients, relatives, carers, and the Procurator Fiscal’s Office
Updating medical rotas
Audiotyping clinic and discharge letters
Minute taking for meetings
Ensuring administrative processes support efficient patient care
Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:
- HNC/SVQIII in Secretarial Studies/Business Administration or equivalent experience
- Proficient in use of software systems including Microsoft Office Packages
- Advanced keyboard skills
- Medical terminology
- Good organisational and communication skills
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to demonstrate all-round professional attitude especially under pressure with deadlines and conflicting interests.
