Design Engineer - KTP Associate

The College is seeking applications for a Design Engineer - KTP Associate to be based with Grove Mechanical Services Limited, Toomebridge and across their various sites on a fixed-term basis for 2 years. The postholder will lead the delivery of a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) project between Grove Mechanical and North West Regional College (NWRC). The postholder will develop and embed an advanced workflow to enhance Grove Mechanical’s digital delivery capability. The role will focus on transforming how site data is captured, analysed and integrated into structured BIM and Digital Twin environments to improve coordination, decision-making, installation planning and commercial competitiveness. The role will contribute to Grove Mechanical’s strategic digital development, including preparation for ISO 19650-aligned BIM accreditation and the structured implementation of information management processes.
Responsibilities
- Manage and coordinate all activities outlined in the KTP workplan.
- Develop and implement digital workflows integrating drone/site data, BIM, AI, Digital Twins and VR.
- Analyse existing Grove Mechanical processes and identify opportunities for digital enhancement.
- Capture, structure and integrate site and drone data into BIM environments.
- Develop and test AI-supported analysis, including deviation detection and model validation.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Have at least a Level 5 qualification in Product/Industrial Design, Manufacturing/ Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering or Architecture OR expect to complete a Level 5 qualification before the end of July 2026.
- Have experience using Building Information Modelling (BIM) & 3D CAD.
Desirable Skills
- Have at least a Level 6 qualification in Product/Industrial Design, Manufacturing/ Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering or Architecture OR expect to complete a Level 6 qualification before the end of July 2026.
- Have at least 1 years employment experience in an engineering, manufacturing or design sector role.
