Our client, a highly regarded educational institution in Old Harlow, Essex, is seeking a dedicated and experienced Part-time SEN/Behaviour Support Assistant to join their dynamic team. This position offers a competitive daily rate of £110, with the potential for ongoing employment, subject to negotiation.
As a Part-time SEN/Behaviour Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with special educational needs (SEN) and helping to manage challenging behaviours within the classroom setting. Your primary responsibilities will include providing one-to-one and small group support, implementing behaviour management strategies, and collaborating with teaching staff to ensure the best possible outcomes for the students in your care.- Provide individualised support and assistance to students with a range of special educational needs, including learning difficulties, physical disabilities, and behavioural challenges.
- Implement behaviour management strategies and techniques to help maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Work closely with teaching staff to develop and deliver targeted interventions, based on the specific needs of the students.
- Assist with the planning and delivery of lessons, ensuring that the curriculum is accessible and engaging for all students.
- Support the integration of students with SEN into the mainstream classroom, promoting their social, emotional, and academic development.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of student progress, incidents, and interventions, in line with the school's policies and procedures.
- Communicate effectively with parents, carers, and other professionals involved in the students' care and education.
- Participate in continuing professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge in supporting students with SEN and behaviour management.
- Adhere to all school policies, procedures, and safeguarding guidelines to ensure the well-being and safety of the students in your care.
- An advantage to posess elevant qualification in education, special educational needs, or a related field, such as a Teaching Assistant Diploma or NVQ in Supporting Teaching and Learning.
- Demonstrable experience working with students with special educational needs and/or challenging behaviours in a school or educational setting.
- Strong understanding of the principles of inclusion, equity, and differentiation in the classroom.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting the educational and personal development of students with SEN.
- Proficient in the use of behaviour management strategies and techniques, including de-escalation and positive reinforcement.
- Willingness to participate in ongoing professional development and training to enhance your skills and knowledge.
