Job Description
The salary for this role is £57,117 (inclusive of a Specialist Allowance) . Onsite working is expected for 5 days each week, however, we actively support requests for flexible working.
This role can be based at any of the following sites: Culham, Oxfordshire .
This role requires employees to complete an online Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) , including The Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) checks for criminal convictions and possibly a search of open source data.
The Role
MAST‑U, the world’s largest operating spherical tokamak, is seeking a Plant Maintenance & Works Co‑ordinator to lead the management and coordination of maintenance and installation activities, including compliance with CDM (Construction, Design and Management) regulations, for key pulsed power supplies systems. The role ensures effective communication of plant status and issues with Local Plant Managers, the Team Leader, and the Authority to Operate holder, while also contributing operationally as a rostered Power Supplies Operations Engineer during tokamak operations. Acting as a Plant Responsible Officer, the individual will drive improvements to power supply equipment, support wider team projects and studies, and take on Project Engineer responsibilities for complex, high‑impact initiatives that contribute to divisional objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as the Maintenance Manager (Asset Management) for the MPS Plant, working with the Team & Technical Leads and PROs to set the maintenance strategy and take responsibility for its implementation.
- Act as a Work Package Leader and Supervisor for multidisciplinary teams (multiple) of maintenance and installation technicians and engineers.
- Act as a Plant Responsible Officer (PRO) and technical expert for some major parts of the Pulsed Power Supplies Plant for MAST-U; these very large, complex and high hazard plant items are critical to the availability of the MAST-U experiment.
- Act as a Project Engineer and enable the successful delivery of large-scale multiyear projects within the division or wider organisation.
Qualifications
Essential Requirements:
• A HNC/D in (or significate progress towards) an Electrical discipline, or equivalent qualification level with significant industrial experience
- Time served apprenticeship to City & Guilds level or above
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations
- Additional Supervisory Training, for example, ECITB SSSTS/SMSTS
- IOSH Managing Safely
- Good record keeping – in both electronic and paper media when necessary – and good literary skills for production of reports for Senior Management, or other third parties.
Desirable Requirements:
- C&G 2391 Inspection & Test (BS7671) or equivalent
- CDM Qualification and experience
