This is a full time post and is required for Autumn 2026.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
Plan and deliver engaging and challenging lessons in Business Studies and additional subjects as listed to students up to Key Stage 5.
Develop and implement differentiated teaching strategies to meet the diverse learning needs of students.
Create a positive and inclusive learning environment that fosters intellectual curiosity and critical thinking.
Assess student progress regularly and provide constructive feedback to support their academic growth.
Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and performance in accordance with school policies.
Stay updated on current trends and developments in Business Studies to enhance teaching practice.
Promote positive student behaviour during lessons within your class and across the school.
Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues to promote a culture of collaboration and mutual respect.
Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents/carers, educational psychologists, therapists who may be involved with students for whom you have a responsibility.
Person Specification:
Experience:
Experience working with children / young people with special educational needs (SEN) is essential. Proven experience teaching Business Studies and additional subjects up to and including Key Stage 5, with a strong track record of student achievement.
Skills and Knowledge:
GCSE or equivalent level, including at least a Grade 4 (previously Grade C) in English and Maths
Qualified Teacher Status or equivalent teaching qualification
Proven experience working within a SEN environment
Degree in Business Studies, Economics, or a related field
Good literacy and numeracy skills
Good organisational skills
Ability to build effective working relationships with students and adults
Skills and expertise in understanding the needs of all students
Knowledge of how to help adapt and deliver support to meet individual needs
Subject and curriculum knowledge relevant to the role, and ability to apply this effectively in supporting teachers and students
Excellent verbal communication skills
Active listening skills
The ability to remain calm in stressful situations
Knowledge of guidance and requirements around safeguarding children
Good ICT skills, particularly using ICT to support learning

Be passionate in using your knowledge of current theory and practice in teaching and learning, and SEND, to provide a highly effective curriculum delivery, in a stimulating and enjoyable way.

Other Responsibilities:
Safety & Wellbeing / Safeguarding: Promote the safety and wellbeing of students, and help to safeguard students’ wellbeing by following the requirements of Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) and our school’s child protection policy
Professional Development: Help keep own knowledge and understanding relevant and up to date by reflecting on their own practice, liaising with school leaders, and identifying relevant professional development to improve personal effectiveness. Take opportunities to build the appropriate skills, qualifications, and/or experience needed for the role, with support from the school

Hours: Monday, Wednesdays and Thursdays 8.15am – 4.30pm, Tuesday 8.15am to 5.30pm (includes 1 hour CPD at the end of the day) Fridays 8.15am– 1.30pm (32 weeks plus inset days)
