We're looking for caring, resilient and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistants to support pupils across a range of primary, secondary and specialist SEND settings throughout South London. Whether you're an experienced Teaching Assistant, a recent graduate looking to gain school-based experience, or someone with a background in care, youth work or support work, we'd love to hear from you. The Role As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you'll play a vital role in helping children access education, build confidence and achieve their potential. Responsibilities may include:
- Providing 1:1 support for pupils with additional needs
- Supporting small group interventions
- Assisting pupils with Autism (ASC), ADHD, Speech & Language Needs and SEMH needs
- Encouraging positive behaviour and emotional regulation
- Supporting pupils with classroom activities and learning tasks
- Working collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs and external professionals
- Helping to create a safe, supportive and inclusive learning environment
- Experience working with children, young people or vulnerable adults
- A patient, positive and adaptable approach
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs
- Ability to remain calm and supportive in challenging situations
- Previous school-based experience is beneficial but not essential
- Calm, nurturing and proactive approach
- Ability to build positive relationships quickly
- Flexible and adaptable across different settings
- Strong understanding of safeguarding and inclusion
- Committed to helping pupils thrive both academically and socially
