Applied AI Researcher, Hedge Fund Startup
Central London - office based
£90-120k highly negotiable + discretionary bonus 50-100% of salary
An opportunity for an elite Applied AI Researcher to join a very small, topflight, AI team (2-6 people within a larger international group) with arguably the leading macro hedge fund. The bonus potential is unparalleled. The challenges genuinely interesting from a data perspective.
The Applied AI Researcher will create novel ML/AI models focused on time-series, macroeconomic prediction.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct independent research directly applicable to our forecasting and trading processes
- Develop, build, and train cutting-edge deep learning models
- Communicate and coordinate closely with Quant team to ensure research alignment
Requirements:
- PhD (preferred) or Masters in STEM, or related quantitative field
- Expertise in AI research, with demonstrated ability to build and train deep learning models like encoders, transformers, GANs, CNNs, RNNs, etc.
- Strong Python skills
- Strong familiarity with frameworks like PyTorch, TensorFlow, or JAX
- Familiarity with high-performance computation (CUDA, distributed training)
- Experience with low-frequency time-series data is a plus
- Experience with self-supervised learning is a plus
