UK and European Affairs Assistant

This exciting role offers the opportunity to support delivery of the Government of Jersey's objectives through its London Office.

Main duties and responsibilities

Policy and analysis

Advance the core policy activities of the office, including:
• engagement with UK Government Ministers, officials and Parliamentarians to support the implementation of Government of Jersey policy positions in a UK context
• engagement with the European diplomatic community in London to support delivery of Government of Jersey objectives
• development of briefing packs and correspondence for Jersey Ministers and officials, including through desk-based research.

Events management

Support delivery of major set-piece events (both UK and Europe-facing), including:
• preparation of biographies and other event briefing materials
• management of guest lists and invitations
• provision of on-the-day event support
• development of proposals for future events.

Other duties

Other duties as required including:
• support delivery of consular-style assistance to Jersey residents
• assistance with the Office’s web and social media presences
• support for cultivation of an online ‘diaspora’ community of UK residents with connections to Jersey
• contribution to corporate reporting of outputs
• serve as Deputy Office Manager, assisting the Office Manager with daily opening and closing of the office, and other tasks as required.

Notes

1. The role is London-based, but occasional travel to Jersey may be required.
2. The post is offered as a one-year fixed term, with the possibility of extension.
