£17,669 - £18,614 (27.5 Hours per week, Term-time only)
Newhill Primary School, Blairgowrie

Newhill Primary School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic School Support Worker to join our team.

This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of children and young people.

From working with children and young people, to supporting the senior leadership team with administrative duties to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the school, the remit of the role is diverse with no two days the same.

The job family role profiles are attached. The role may focus on some aspects more than others at different times of the year, but there would be an expectation of flexibility based on the needs of the school.

A particular aspect of this post will involve you working as part of a team supporting children and young people, including those who have additional support needs, to access learning under the direction of other members of the team.

Children and Young People can have a range of needs that are short lived or more long term. These, at different points in their education, may require additional support.

The School Support Worker role is varied and may include supporting children and young people who present with needs which may include:

  • Social and Emotional
  • Learning
  • Communication
  • Physical
  • Personal Care

Some children may present with distressed and challenging behaviour as a result of these needs.

The School Support Worker may have a role in supporting positive behaviour management programmes and individual support plans, both within the classroom setting and at social times outdoors in the playground.

Skills & Experience Required

We are looking for an individual who can demonstrate:

  • A genuine interest in the development of children and their wellbeing.
  • Kindness, empathy and patience.
  • An ability to engage with children and young people.
  • Confidentiality in relation to children, young people and their families.
  • Experience (paid/voluntary) of supporting children and young people with additional support needs within an Early Years Setting or within a Primary School.
  • Flexibility and adaptability.
