Assistant Poultry Farm Manager - North London - £35,000 – £40,000 + Accommodation The Job:
An opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Poultry Farm Manager to support the day to day running of a mixed laying hen and duck enterprise. This is a hands on role focused on flock management, egg production, animal welfare and supporting the wider farm operation. You will work closely with the Farm Manager to ensure high standards across production, hygiene and customer delivery activities.
Key responsibilities:
- Daily monitoring and management of laying hens and duck flocks
- Egg collection, grading, sorting and quality control
- Monitor flock health, welfare, and production performance, identifying and responding to issues
- Carry out routine salmonella testing in line with compliance requirements
- Manage poultry housing, including feeding, bedding, and seasonal flock movements
- Assist with the relocation, cleaning, and maintenance of mobile poultry units
- Maintain accurate production, health, and performance records
- Support delivery of eggs and produce to local customers
- Supervise, train, and support part-time farm staff
- Assist with general farm maintenance and husbandry tasks
- Support customer engagement and social media activity for the farm The Company:
A specialist poultry farming operation managing approximately 4,500 laying hens and 500 ducks. The business focuses on high welfare production, direct to customer supply and sustainable farming practices, with a strong emphasis on quality, traceability and customer engagement.
The Candidate:
- Previous experience working with laying poultry and livestock systems
- Strong understanding of poultry welfare, behaviour and production management
- Excellent attention to detail with a strong focus on bird health and performance
- Ability to work independently and use initiative in a farm environment
- Strong organisational and communication skills with the ability to support and supervise others
- Full UK driving licence
- Experience operating tractors or telehandlers (desirable)
