Are you someone who genuinely enjoys helping people, building relationships and creating exceptional experiences?
At Highfields Vets, we believe great veterinary care starts long before a consult room door opens. It starts with the welcome a client receives, the reassurance they hear in your voice, and the confidence they feel knowing their pet is in safe hands.
We're looking for a Client Care Advisor to join our growing team and help deliver the outstanding service, warmth and professionalism that Highfields Vets is known for.
Whether you already work in veterinary reception, have experience in customer service, hospitality, healthcare or retail, or simply have the right attitude and a passion for people, we'd love to hear from you.
Why Highfields Vets?
We're a fiercely independent, family-owned and family-run small animal practice based in Littleover, Derby.
Being independent means we have the freedom to do things properly.
We prioritise relationships over transactions, quality over targets, and people over process. We take pride in providing high-quality veterinary care whilst creating a workplace where team members feel supported, valued and empowered to grow.
We're ambitious about the future, but we never want to lose what makes us special: a genuinely caring team, strong community roots, and a commitment to doing the right thing for our clients, patients and each other.
The Role
As a Client Care Advisor, you'll be the first and last point of contact for many of our clients.
You'll help create an exceptional client experience by:
- Welcoming clients and pets with warmth, professionalism and empathy.
- Managing appointments, enquiries and client communications.
- Supporting clients through both happy moments and difficult ones.
- Keeping accurate records and ensuring information flows seamlessly between clients and the clinical team.
- Helping the practice run smoothly through organisation, attention to detail and proactive problem solving.
- Explaining our preventative healthcare options and supporting clients in making informed decisions for their pets.
- Contributing ideas that help improve the experience of our clients, patients and team.
Who We're Looking For
The right person will be:
- Warm, approachable and genuinely people-focused.
- A confident communicator who can adapt to different situations and personalities.
- Organised, reliable and detail-oriented.
- Calm under pressure and able to think on their feet.
- Proactive, positive and solutions-focused.
- A team player who enjoys supporting others and contributing to a positive culture.
- Open to feedback, learning and continuous development.
- Proud to take ownership of their work and the experience they create for others.
- Veterinary experience is welcome but not essential. We are equally interested in candidates with transferable customer service skills and the right values, attitude and potential.
Working Pattern
- Full-time preferred (40 hours per week).
- Fixed rota.
- Shifts between 8:00am and 7:00pm Monday to Friday.
- 1 in 4 Saturdays (8:00am–2:00pm).
- No planned out-of-hours work, although occasional emergency-related late finishes may occur.
What We Offer
- Salary of £26,500–£28,500 pro rata , depending on experience.
- Health cash plan/private healthcare.
- Pension scheme.
- Enhanced sick pay.
- Death in Service benefit.
- Staff discount on veterinary services.
- Ongoing training and development opportunities.
- A genuinely family-friendly workplace.
- A supportive team where your contribution matters and your voice is heard.
A Final Thought
- This role isn't simply about answering phones or booking appointments.
- It's about being part of the experience that clients remember.
- It's about reassuring worried owners, celebrating happy outcomes, supporting colleagues and helping pets receive the care they deserve.
- If you're looking for a role where people matter, where your contribution is valued, and where you can genuinely make a difference every day, we'd love to hear from you.
To Apply
Please send your CV and a covering letter explaining why you'd like to join the Highfields Vets team.
