Clinical Fellow IMT 3 General Medicine/Nephrology
Job description
This post is an opportunity to work within the Western Trust. It will also allow the successful candidates to pursue an interest like medical education, simulation, quality improvement. The specialty interest is flexible and other options can be discussed. Although this is not a recognised training post, educational and career development opportunities will be a priority. The post forms a core component of the medical staffing. The successful applicants will join a team of Consultants, specialty doctors and trainees to deliver high quality services to patients. They will be responsible for the review of existing patients and participation on consultant ward rounds. They will be required to liaise with specialty teams, request appropriate investigations and formulate management plans. The successful post holder will rotate through specialities every 4 months for an initial period of 12 months and contract may be extendable by another 12 months if mutually agreed. They will be on OOH oncall rota Tier 3 Registrar level (presently 13 person).
Responsibilities
- Daily review of inpatients. Participation in consultant ward rounds. Providing same day emergency care & Partake in a full time out of hours rota. Establishing timely investigation and initiating a management plan.
- Liaise with other specialties and the multidisciplinary team as needed. The post holder will be encouraged to pursue an interest in either: Medical Education; Simulation; Quality Improvement; or a Medical Specialty.
- The post holder will be expected to participate in initiatives to improve clinical effectiveness and maximize the use of the hospitals facilities.
- So far as is consistent with the proper discharge of the duties of the post, the post holder undertakes, from time to time, to deputise for absent colleagues the same or other grades.
- The post holder will be expected to take continuing professional development within the guidelines set by the General Medical Council and the Royal Colleges.
- To participate in Regular audit/QIP. Undertake resuscitation training and other statutory/clinical training sessions. Up-to-date with Trust mandatory training.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Must have Full Registration with the General Medical Council (London) and Licence to Practice at the date of commencing employment.
- Have successfully completed IMT level Year 2 Programme or have equivalent experience and competencies, or expect to do so at the date of commencing employment; 05/08/26 (evidence on JRCPTB eportfolio or equivalent).
- Have 1-year HSC / HSE / NHS service within the last 24 months.
- Evidence of Audit/QIP/Publications.
Desirable Skills
- Evidence of Passing MRCP Part 1 or higher.
