Fetal Medicine Operational Network - Regional Lead Midwife

Job summary

Are you an experienced Registered Midwife with an interest Fetal Medicine.

If so, we have a rare and exciting opportunity to join the Fetal Medicine Operational Network as the Regional Lead Midwife .

The post holder will be the strategic and midwifery lead for the regional Operational Network (ODN) - specialising in Fetal Medicine .

Through strong leadership and effective management, the Lead Midwife for the FMU ODN will promote and deliver excellence while maintaining and continually improving clinical standards.

The clinical networks bring stakeholders together - providers, commissioners and patients - to create an alignment around programmes of transformational work that will improve care for those families needing to access Fetal Medicine Units.

Main duties of the job

Th post holder will support the FM ODN to provide the clinical expertise and leadership to drive commissioning decision-making, measure and benchmark quality and outcomes, and share best practice and innovation. In this way, the networks:

• Improve quality outcomes.
• Advance the delivery of services
• Reduce unacceptable variations in care
• Act as champions for patients and their interests and involve the public and patients in policy-development and decision-making.

Knowledge and Experience

Essential

• Significant knowledge of Fetal Medicine services and significant relevant clinical experience
• Sound knowledge of key national issues/agendas relevant to FMU.
• Evidence of up to date skills and is clinically competent in current role
• Proven experience of the delivery and evaluation of multidisciplinary education and training
• Sound knowledge of key national issues/agendas relevant to FMU
• Experience of managing/mentoring staff
• Ability to chair and run meetings
• Thorough and up to date knowledge of midwifery theory and best practice particularly within speciality area.
• Experience of guideline /policy writing

Desirable

• Experience of leading and implementing service developments
• Experience of regional working
• Knowledge of the Fetal Anomaly Screening Programme ( FASP)
