Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Sexual Health Service as a Sexual Health Nurse based at Blyth One to One.

We are seeking a motivated and compassionate nurse to become part of our friendly and supportive team, delivering high-quality integrated sexual health care to people aged 13 years and over. The role involves providing a wide range of services, including contraception advice and provision, STI screening, testing and treatment, health promotion, and patient-centred care in a confidential and inclusive environment.

Main duties of the job
  • Provide integrated sexual health to patients aged 13 and upwards from a diverse range of cultural and social backgrounds.
  • Work in an unsupervised role and be able to make clinical decisions /assessments following completion of in-house training and competency-based assessments. The post holder will be supported to undertake recognised sexual health qualifications and training.
  • Provide evidence-based advice to patients and other healthcare professionals
  • Work collaboratively with all members of the multi-disciplinary team to ensure the effective and efficient delivery of clinical sessions across the geography of Northumberland and North Tyneside.
  • Contribute to the implementation of current and future national, local and service specific projects and standards.
  • Work within trust guidelines.

Job responsibilities
To deliver high-quality, patient-centred integrated sexual health services to individuals aged 13 years and over, providing evidence-based contraception, sexually transmitted infection (STI) screening, testing, treatment, advice, and health promotion. The post holder will work autonomously within agreed competencies and clinical guidelines, undertaking comprehensive assessments, making informed clinical decisions, and contributing to the delivery of safe, effective, and accessible sexual health services across Northumberland.

Working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, the post holder will support the continuous development of the service, contribute to the implementation of local and national sexual health priorities, and uphold Trust policies, standards, and values. The role offers opportunities for professional development, including recognised sexual health training and qualifications, enabling the post holder to develop specialist knowledge and skills within the specialty.

The post holder will demonstrate compassionate, inclusive leadership by fostering a culture of collaboration, continuous learning, quality improvement, and excellent patient care, while supporting colleagues and contributing to positive health outcomes for the communities served.

Qualifications / Professional Registration
Essential
  • Registered Nurse - Part 1 of register
  • Study at degree level or equivalent level of experience
  • Evidence of qualification to undertake the supervision, teaching and assessing of students (essential requirement for post, expectation this will be completed within an 18-month period).
Experience and knowledge

  • Experience of teaching or mentoring nurses.
  • Post registration clinical experience.
  • Experience working in a busy outpatient setting
