Responsibilities

• Responsible for the delivery of a customer focused and diverse range of day to day operational duties in all weather conditions, carried out in accordance with Health and Safety obligations and standard operating procedures
• At Brooke Park and Acorn Farm/St Columbs Park and potentially at other locations throughout the Derry City and Strabane District Council area.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

• A minimum of a level 2 qualification in a relevant discipline e.g. Horticulture (amenity) or equivalent
• A minimum of two years horticulture experience, including growing plants and crops under glass or plastic.
• Knowledge and application of Health and Safety at work
• Minimum of a full valid and current category B Licence
• Experience in vegetable plant production.
• Experience sowing seeds, planting flowerbeds, vegetable beds and maintaining them to a high standard.

Desirable Skills

• Experience of soft fruit shrub and tree maintenance
• Pest and disease knowledge
