English Teacher - Independent School, Nottinghamshire
An independent school in Nottinghamshire is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic English Teacher to join its department from September. This full-time role is within a nurturing school that places great emphasis on developing confident communicators and lifelong readers.
About the Role You will teach English Language and Literature across KS3, KS4, and KS5, with small class sizes allowing for close attention to individual progress. The department encourages wide reading, creative writing, and rich classroom discussion.
Key Responsibilities
Teach English Language and Literature across KS3, KS4, and KS5
Prepare students for GCSE and A-Level English examinations
Foster a love of reading through varied and ambitious text choices
Provide detailed, individualised feedback to support progress
Contribute to extracurricular opportunities such as creative writing or public speaking
Take part in departmental curriculum development

Candidate Requirements
Essential
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Experience teaching English at secondary level
Strong subject knowledge across KS3 and KS4
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Desirable
Experience teaching A-Level English Literature or Language
Experience working in an independent school setting
Interest in leading creative writing, debating, or public speaking activities
