Specialist Outreach Teacher - Autism, SEMH & EBSA
Location: Sefton, Merseyside
Pay: £26-£32 per hour, depending on experience
Contract: Flexible, part-time opportunities
Start Date: To be confirmed
Not every child can manage a busy classroom or follow a traditional school timetable. We're looking for a teacher who can think creatively, build trust and help pupils reconnect with learning at their own pace.
SEND Inclusion Support is recruiting a Specialist Outreach Teacher in Sefton to work with children and young people who need individualised educational support outside the conventional classroom environment.
You may support pupils experiencing emotionally based school avoidance (EBSA), anxiety, autism, SEMH needs or other barriers that have affected their engagement with education.
This is a relationship-led role where progress may begin with building confidence, establishing routines and helping a pupil feel safe enough to learn.
You'll have access to our bespoke Nurture Curriculum, alongside specialist guidance to help you plan and deliver learning that reflects each pupil's needs and starting point.
What You'll Do
Deliver tailored one-to-one education in the home, community or online, according to the agreed programme.
Use our bespoke Nurture Curriculum to create meaningful learning opportunities.
Plan sessions around the pupil's current abilities, interests and individual targets.
Re-engage pupils who have struggled with attendance, confidence or participation in education.
Develop literacy, numeracy, communication, social and independent learning skills.
Use a calm, consistent and trauma-informed approach to support engagement.
Track progress and provide clear reports on learning, wellbeing and next steps.
Work alongside families and relevant professionals to help create a joined-up approach.
Who We're Looking For
You'll be a qualified teacher who understands that successful learning starts with the individual child and the barriers they face.
Ideally, you will have:
QTS and experience supporting pupils with SEND.
Experience of outreach, alternative provision, EOTAS or one-to-one teaching.
An understanding of autism, anxiety, SEMH or EBSA.
The ability to build rapport with pupils who may be reluctant to engage.
Strong planning, communication and assessment skills.
The patience and flexibility to adapt when a pupil needs a different approach.
Mainstream teachers looking to use their skills in a more personalised setting are encouraged to apply, particularly if they have experience supporting pupils with additional needs.
Why Join SEND Inclusion Support?
£26-£32 per hour , depending on experience.
Flexible, part-time opportunities.
Access to our bespoke Nurture Curriculum , providing a structured starting point for personalised learning.
Paid planning time in line with our arrangements.
Ongoing specialist support and guidance.
Termly Nurture Teacher Days to connect with other teachers, share ideas and develop practice.
The opportunity to work in a more flexible setting and help pupils overcome barriers to education.
You'll have a curriculum to work from and a specialist team to support you, while retaining the flexibility to adapt your teaching to each pupil.
If you're passionate about helping children overcome barriers to education and find a route back into meaningful learning, we'd love to hear from you.
