We are seeking an outstanding, inspirational and ambitious Founding Director of Sport and Physical Education to shape the department and sporting life of the College from the beginning. This role represents a rare professional opportunity for a leader who shares our aim of developing well educated, respectful and intellectually curious young men and women, ready to take a full, active and positive role in the world. Above all they will shape a culture in which sport is played and enjoyed by pupils of every ability, from the reluctant beginner to the national squad athlete.

Responsibilities
Lead and develop the Sport and Physical Education department, establishing its curriculum, standards, teams and culture.
Deliver outstanding Physical Education teaching across the age range, including GCSE/IGCSE Physical Education and IB Sports, Exercise and Health Science.
Recruit, support and develop teaching and coaching staff, including external specialists.
Design and lead a broad co-curricular sports programme that encourages participation and enjoyment for pupils of all abilities.
Develop competitive sports teams, fixtures, festivals and performance pathways for talented athletes.
Promote excellence, innovation and inclusion across the department and wider sporting life of the College.
Manage departmental budgets, facilities, equipment and future growth planning.
Ensure the highest standards of safeguarding, wellbeing, health and safety, and risk management within all sporting activities.
Contribute fully to the pastoral, academic and wider life of the College.
Skills and Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Physical Education, Sports Science or a related discipline. PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification is preferred. However, candidates with substantial relevant experience will also be considered.
Experience leading a department or holding significant leadership responsibility within a school setting.
Proven track record of coaching teams to a high standard and leading successful sports programmes.
Experience delivering GCSE/IGCSE and ideally IB Diploma courses.
Strong knowledge of safeguarding, health and safety, and best practice in school sport.
Experience recruiting and managing coaches would be advantageous.
International school experience or an international outlook is desirable.
Excellent leadership, communication and organisational skills.
