Small animal vet vacancy for friendly team, Cannock, Staffordshire

£75k per annum
A fantastic opportunity is available for a Veterinary Surgeon to join a well-established, locally owned practice in Cannock, with a salary of up to £75,000 DOE, FTE, alongside an excellent benefits package and strong opportunities for professional development.
The practice is entering an exciting period of growth, with a significant extension planned for the future. The successful candidate will become part of an experienced and close-knit clinical team with more than 50 years of combined experience. The three-vet team brings a broad range of knowledge across both surgery and internal medicine, with individual experience ranging from 3 to 27 years post-qualification. They are supported by three RVNs, a second-year SVN and a reception team of five, creating a well-resourced environment where everyone works together and supports one another.
The practice is looking for a friendly, down-to-earth Veterinary Surgeon who enjoys being part of a team and is committed to delivering high standards of care to its loyal client base. The team places a strong emphasis on creating an inclusive, enjoyable workplace where colleagues can develop their skills while supporting each other's professional ambitions.
The role would suit both an experienced clinician and a vet in the earlier stages of their career. The caseload is varied, covering routine neutering and dentistry through to soft tissue surgery and orthopaedic cases. There is also plenty of flexibility within the rota to accommodate individual clinical interests. Those who particularly enjoy medicine and client-facing work can have a greater focus on consultations, while vets with a preference for surgery can increase their time in theatre.
Consultations are scheduled for 20 minutes for sick pets, initial vaccinations and boosters, allowing adequate time to examine patients properly and complete clinical notes. Lunch breaks are protected, giving the team genuine time away from the clinical environment during the day. The nursing team also runs its own clinics, helping to keep vets available to focus on diagnostics, case management and patient care.
The position is ideally offered on a full-time basis at 40 hours per week, although the practice is happy to consider part-time applicants and can offer flexibility around a four- or five-day working week. Saturday mornings are shared on a 1-in-4 rota, running from 9am to 1pm. There are no OOH, Sunday or Bank Holiday duties, although some occasional sole-charge work may be required.
Professional development is actively encouraged, with CPD support and certificate-level training available for those wishing to develop a particular area of interest. The team is supported by both a Practice Manager and General Manager, alongside a friendly clinical and nursing team.
The benefits package includes a salary of up to £75,000 DOE, FTE, enhanced holiday entitlement of 264 hours per calendar year after two years' service, a contributory pension scheme, paid professional memberships, a generous CPD allowance and support towards certificates. The practice also regularly organises team-building activities and social events.
This is an opportunity to join a stable and supportive team at an exciting point in the practice's development, with genuine flexibility around working patterns and the freedom to shape the role around individual clinical interests.
