Job summary
The Stroke team is a pan trust team who care for Stroke patients throughout Northern Lincolnshire and Goole. Stroke department is part of wider Neurosciences group which comprises Stroke department in NLAG & Hull , Neurology department and Neurosurgery department across HUTH. The Stroke Team is based on Ward C7 at Diana Princess of Wales Hospital with 21 beds, and the Stroke Unit in Scunthorpe General Hospital consisting of the Hyper Acute Stroke Unit (6 beds) and Stroke Ward (15 beds) and Stroke assessment area of 4 beds located at stroke ward. All patients with acute strokes are admitted to the Hyper Acute Stroke Unit at Scunthorpe General Hospital and repatriated back to Diane Princess of Wales hospital, Goole District Hospital or discharged depending on the patients need. Acute Strokes presenting at Scunthorpe General Hospital are seen and assessed in the Stroke Assessment Area before moving to the relevant ward or discharged directly from this area. The Specialty doctor post gives opportunity for all doctors to work within the Hyper Acute setting based at Scunthorpe General Hospital as well as their base site Main duties of the job
The post would suite an enthusiastic team player dedicated to high quality patient care. The opportunity exists to work in a non-hierarchical setting in this busy DGH The post holder is expected to contribute to a service which is both Consultant-led and delivered.

- Undertake a daily ward round of the allocated bed base
- Assess all new admissions to HASU and Stroke ward under consultant supervision.
- Support the team to deliver effective, safe, and timely care in line with the operating standards of the Stroke wards
- Ensure appropriate handover of care at the end of a shift to the next responsible clinician.
- Liaise with specialty clinicians to facilitate their early involvement
- Further develop functional links with the community to facilitate seamless transfer of patients between the community and the hospital.
- Ensure timely completion of all documentation pertinent to an admission, transfer, discharge or death, in line with hospital standards.
- Supervise and ensure robust and effective hospital clinical handover.
- To engage and work in line with the Criteria to reside principles as set out by the Trust
- Contribute to the Thrombolysis and Ward Cover On Call Stroke thrombolysis rota.

- In process of doing MRCP with at least part 1/part 2 & PACES.
