The Opportunity

Welocity is recruiting on behalf of its client, NowVertical, for a commercially minded Director, Solutions Consulting to lead complex enterprise opportunities at the intersection of sales, consulting and AI innovation.

This is a senior leadership role for someone who can translate business challenges into compelling, commercially viable data and AI solutions — and turn strategic opportunities into scoped engagements and revenue.

You will lead discovery, value engineering, solution design and commercial structuring, working directly with senior client stakeholders to understand business priorities, quantify potential value and build a clear case for transformation. You will also establish and lead early-stage billable consulting engagements, helping clients validate opportunities and realise value.

Alongside hands-on client work, you will build and develop the solutions consulting and presales function, introducing repeatable frameworks, practical demonstrations and structured processes that improve conversion rates, deal value and client confidence.

This role requires a blend of executive presence, technical credibility and commercial ownership. You will be expected to lead opportunities independently, remain hands-on when required and help shape how NowVertical takes its data and AI solutions to market.

Key Responsibilities

Enterprise Discovery & Value Engineering

• Lead discovery sessions with senior business and technical stakeholders to identify business challenges, inefficiencies and transformation opportunities.
• Translate client challenges into quantified business cases covering ROI, cost reduction, revenue growth and operational improvement.
• Independently manage opportunities from initial problem discovery through solution development, commercial qualification and conversion.
• Challenge assumptions, clarify ambiguous requirements and develop structured approaches to complex business problems.
• Build client confidence by connecting proposed solutions to measurable business outcomes.

AI-Led Solution Design & Demonstration

• Design and position AI-led solutions across data platform modernisation, AI/ML, generative AI, agentic workflows and intelligent automation.
• Develop rapid prototypes, proof-of-concepts and demonstrations using GenAI platforms, low-code/no-code tools and other prototyping approaches.
• Translate technical capabilities into compelling business propositions that demonstrate tangible value.
• Present solutions effectively to C-suite executives, functional leaders and technical stakeholders.
• Balance speed and technical depth, prioritising clear business value and practical feasibility.

Consulting Engagements & Early Value Realisation

• Structure and lead early-stage billable consulting engagements, including value discovery, advisory assignments and pilots.
• Define engagement objectives, scope, deliverables and success measures to validate client hypotheses and demonstrate value.
• Remain hands-on in consulting delivery rather than operating solely as a presales resource.
• Bridge the gap between what is proposed commercially and what can be delivered successfully.
• Work with delivery teams to support early value realisation and maintain delivery quality.

Commercial Structuring & Deal Ownership

• Own solution scoping, pricing and packaging for opportunities under development.
• Develop statements of work (SoWs) and commercial recommendations for executive approval.
• Ensure proposed engagements are commercially compelling, appropriately scoped and deliverable.
• Protect margins while aligning client expectations, business value and delivery requirements.
• Take accountability for opportunity progression, deal conversion and commercial outcomes.

Team Leadership & Function Development

• Build, lead and mentor the solutions consulting and presales function.
• Develop reusable solution frameworks, demonstration assets, value-engineering tools and discovery methodologies.
• Establish repeatable processes that improve opportunity qualification, conversion and consistency.
• Provide guidance to sales teams on solution positioning, commercial strategy and opportunity development.
• Work with Sales and Marketing to refine go-to-market messaging and strengthen market positioning.

Thought Leadership & Market Positioning

• Maintain a strong understanding of developments in AI, generative AI, agentic AI, machine learning and automation.
• Apply knowledge of modern cloud data ecosystems, including Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Microsoft Azure, Databricks and Snowflake.
• Contribute to client workshops, points of view, case studies and industry discussions.
• Identify emerging use cases and market opportunities that strengthen NowVertical's solutions portfolio.
• Help shape how the business positions, demonstrates and commercialises its data and AI capabilities.

What We're Looking For

Essential Experience

• 10+ years of experience in solutions consulting, presales, value engineering or client-facing consulting leadership.
• Proven success independently shaping and progressing complex enterprise opportunities from discovery to signed engagement.
• Experience establishing and delivering billable consulting engagements within data, analytics, AI or technology environments.
• Strong commercial acumen, including business case development, ROI analysis, pricing, scoping and statement-of-work structures.
• Deep understanding of AI-led transformation, including generative AI, agentic AI, machine learning and intelligent automation.
• Hands-on familiarity with modern cloud data ecosystems, including GCP, Azure, Databricks and Snowflake.
• Experience engaging senior business and technical stakeholders and influencing enterprise buying decisions.
• Demonstrated ability to lead teams while remaining hands-on in solution development and client engagements.

Education

A bachelor's degree in Business, Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science or a related discipline is preferred. An advanced degree or equivalent senior-level professional experience is an advantage.
