English Teacher - Leeds

£120 - £240 per day

The role As a Teacher of English, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality, engaging and purposeful English lessons across KS3 and KS4. You will inspire pupils to become confident readers, thoughtful writers and articulate communicators. Your responsibilities will include: Planning and delivering engaging English Language and Literature lessons. Teaching pupils across KS3 and KS4. Creating a positive classroom environment built around high expectations. Supporting pupils to make strong academic progress. Using assessment effectively to identify strengths, gaps and next steps. Differentiating and adapting teaching to meet individual pupil needs. Supporting pupils with SEND and other additional learning needs. Developing pupils’ reading, writing, vocabulary and analytical skills. Preparing pupils effectively for GCSE examinations where appropriate. Maintaining high standards of behaviour, presentation and participation. Working collaboratively with colleagues within the English department and across the school. Communicating effectively with parents/carers where appropriate. Contributing to the wider life of the school. Taking an active role in safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing. Who we're looking for We are interested in hearing from teachers who are: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an appropriate recognised teaching qualification. English specialists with strong subject knowledge. Passionate about English Language and Literature. Confident teaching engaging lessons to pupils of different abilities. Able to build positive relationships while maintaining high expectations. Committed to inclusion and ensuring every pupil can succeed. Reflective, reliable and professionally minded. Enthusiastic about developing their own practice. Strong communicators and team players. Committed to safeguarding children and young people. Early Career Teachers are welcome If you are an ECT, don't be put off. We are happy to consider teachers at the beginning of their careers who can demonstrate strong subject knowledge, enthusiasm, resilience and a genuine commitment to teaching. You don't need to have years of experience. You do need to care about getting it right for pupils. Experienced teachers If you're an experienced English teacher looking for a new environment, we would also love to hear from you. Safeguarding is everyone's responsibility, and the successful candidate will be expected to contribute actively to a strong culture of safeguarding and child protection. The successful applicant will be required to undertake the appropriate pre-employment safeguarding checks, including an enhanced DBS check and any other checks applicable to the role. The post involves regulated activity with children and is therefore subject to the relevant safeguarding and safer recruitment requirements.
