Interview date: 24th September 2026 Main duties of the job
- Provide specialist pharmacist services, including attending ward rounds, in the following areas: trauma and orthopaedics, colorectal and nutrition, upper GI, surgical admissions, vascular, urology, ENT, ICU and stepdown.
- Be a part of a collaborative multi-disciplinary team working alongside the pain team, dietitians, stoma nurses, nutrition team, orthopaedic teams in addition to the core Surgical team.
- Promote the safe and effective use of medicines in a ward environment.
- Review and update guidelines and protocols within the surgical division.
- Support the Advanced Pharmacists within the Surgical team to manage the introduction of new drugs and treatment guidelines into the division.
- Assist with the management of errors, complaints and incidents in the in accordance with the Trust Risk Management and Complaints Policies.
- Work with the Advanced Surgical Pharmacists to prepare financial reports and ensure that drug usage and expenditure is monitored and regularly reported to Divisional management team.
- Deliver educational sessions to junior pharmacists, Doctors and Nurses as well as providing one to one support to trainee Pharmacists.
- Opportunities for participation in quality improvement projects within the Surgical Division.
- The post includes weekend working, participation in the bank holiday rota and senior late shift rota.
- Train as a prescriber and actively contribute towards improving the standards of prescribing through participation in the role.
