Nightshift Transport Planner

For a logistics customer in Brussels, we are searching for a freelance Nightshift Transport Planner to be responsible for planning and coordinating the distribution of freight. Goods typically arrive between 00:00 and 01:00 and must be efficiently sorted, planned, and dispatched for distribution throughout Belgium and the Netherlands from approximately 06:00 onwards.

This is a fast-paced operational role requiring excellent planning skills, strong communication, and the ability to make quick decisions under time pressure.

Responsibilities

• Plan and optimize overnight transport routes for Belgium and the Netherlands.
• Coordinate the arrival, unloading, and allocation of inbound freight.
• Ensure all shipments are accurately assigned to the appropriate delivery routes.
• Liaise with warehouse operations, drivers, subcontractors, and customer service teams.
• Monitor transport capacity and make adjustments to meet service requirements.
• Resolve operational issues and respond proactively to unforeseen disruptions.
• Ensure compliance with transport regulations, company procedures, and customer requirements.
• Track KPIs relating to service levels, vehicle utilization, and on-time departures.
• Prepare transport documentation and maintain accurate planning records.
• Ensure all distribution vehicles depart on schedule from approximately 06:00.

Profile

• Previous experience in transport planning, logistics coordination, or fleet operations.
• Knowledge of Belgian and Dutch transport networks is highly desirable.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
• Good knowledge of transport management systems (TMS) and Microsoft Office.
• Flexible, hands-on attitude with a strong operational mindset.
• Ability to work independently during night operations.
