Design Officer
Job Summary
As a Design Officer, you’ll play a key part in shaping high-quality technical designs that support what we’re all about — delivering great work in retrofit, decarbonisation, energy efficiency, renewables, and sustainable development. You’ll focus on creating practical, innovative, and compliant design solutions that help projects run smoothly from early ideas through to delivery.
Daily Responsibility
Creating and developing technical designs, drawings, and specifications across retrofit and energy projects
Making sure all designs meet PAS 2030, PAS 2035, and relevant building regulations
Working closely with Retrofit Coordinators, Surveyors, Project Managers, and the wider team to find the best solutions for performance, cost, and carbon savings
Looking for ways to improve designs — whether that’s making them more efficient, easier to build, or more sustainable
Keeping up to date with industry standards, best practices, and new developments in retrofit and sustainability
Helping ensure designs transition smoothly into delivery on site
Supporting quality assurance processes and maintaining high standards across all design work
Making sure product choices and specifications align with performance, warranties, and certification requirements
Offering technical support and guidance to colleagues when design questions come up
About you
You’ll have experience in technical design within retrofit, energy efficiency, or renewables, along with a solid understanding of building regulations and PAS standards. You’re detail-focused but also practical — someone who can come up with smart solutions that actually work on site.
Just as important, you’re a team player. You’re comfortable working with different people across projects, sharing ideas, and contributing to a supportive, collaborative environment. We’re a close-knit team, so being approachable and willing to help others goes a long way.
An interest or background in design, architecture, engineering, or similar is a plus, and a genuine passion for sustainability and continuous learning will really set you apart.
Why join us?
We’re proud of the work we do, but also the way we do it — supportive, down-to-earth, and focused on doing things properly. If you want to be part of a team where your ideas are valued and your work makes a real difference, you’ll fit right in.
