SEN Teaching Assistant - Specialist Primary School
Location: Swinton, Salford
Pay: £110+ per day
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:45am-3:45pm
Start: ASAP
Contract: Long-term
We are looking for a pro-active and engaging SEN Teaching Assistant to work in a specialist primary school in Swinton.
The school supports children with a range of additional and complex needs , providing highly personalised learning and support based around each child's individual EHCP.
Many pupils require support with communication, sensory regulation, behaviour, learning, social development and independence .
The Role
As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will support pupils both 1:1 and in small groups .
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting pupils to access learning
- Following individual EHCP targets
- Developing communication and interaction skills
- Using visual communication systems such as PECS and now-and-next boards
- Supporting sensory regulation
- Helping pupils manage transitions and routines
- Encouraging independence and life skills
- Supporting social and emotional development
- Helping pupils engage in play, practical and physical activities
- Supporting personal care where required
- Working closely with teachers and other support staff
The school is looking for staff who are proactive and willing to get involved . You should be confident engaging with children through activities, play, sensory work and outdoor learning, while adapting your approach to suit individual needs.

Previous experience with ASD, non-verbal pupils, communication difficulties, sensory needs or learning difficulties is desirable.
Experience as a SEN TA, Teaching Assistant, Support Worker, Care Worker, Youth Worker or similar will be considered.
Requirements
- Previous experience working with children or young people
- SEN experience desirable
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one
- Right to work in the UK
- Two suitable references
