Full Time - 10PAs The Evelina London Children's Hospital is seeking to appoint an substantive 10 PA consultant post to join the Paediatric Neurosciences department at Evelina London Children's Hospital . This is an excellent opportunity to join a highly driven team in an active and progressive central London teaching hospital environment. This advert is for one of two substantive Consultant appointments, the arrangement is flexible and applicants with a track record of clinical training and/or definable research interests that complement the specialist components of the posts are invited to apply. Main duties of the job
The post holder will support the Paediatric Neurology movement, neuromuscular and rehabilitation service. The Evelina Movement Service; provides regional complex tone management and a supra-regional service, undertaking diagnosis and detailed evaluation and support of children who might benefit from neurosurgical interventions such as continuous intrathecal baclofen (ITB) pump implantation and deep brain stimulation (DBS) neuromodulation. The paediatric neuromuscular team undertake multidisciplinary paediatric neuromuscular clinics and support the provision of advanced therapies for spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) at Evelina London. This includes the provision of intrathecal nusinersen for patients with SMA under this treatment. They contribute to patient care in the neonatal unit by offering inpatient consultations and leading clinics dedicated to infants with hypotonia and potential neuromuscular disorders. At least one of the post-holder will participate in the Paediatric Neurology on-call rota for ELCH. This is on an approximate 1 in 9 basis for a week in service. For this on call week all elective activity will be cancelled. Non-resident supervision and attendance will be required for this week. About us
The Paediatric Neuroscience Service is a tertiary service at the Evelina London Children's Hospital, providing an integrated and comprehensive neurology, neurorehabilitation and neurodisability service to children and families from Southeast Thames and beyond. The Neurodisability service is focused on improving quality of life for children with progressive and non-progressive physical disability. At present it sees over 500 new patients each year and has over 2000 patients under review. As part of the treatment pathway Botulinum Toxin A injections are offered to children and young people. The Complex Motor Disorders Service (CMDS) provides a supra-regional service to children and young people, undertaking diagnosis and detailed evaluation and support of children who might benefit from neurosurgical interventions such as continuous intrathecal baclofen (ITB) pump implantation and deep brain stimulation (DBS) neuromodulation. The Neuromuscular service has been designated as a Neuromuscular Centre of Excellence by the charity Muscular Dystrophy UK and is one of the four neuromuscular centres in England, designated by NHSE as infusion centres for provision of delivering onasemnogene abeparvovec gene therapy to babies and children with spinal muscular atrophy. The service operates to a multidisciplinary model providing a comprehensive service for children with neuromuscular disorders, including other advanced therapies such as intrathecal nusinersen and risdiplam. - Eligible for full UK GMC/GDC registration and a License to Practice.
- MRCPCH by examination or equivalent
- On GDC/GMC Specialist Register for Paediatric Neurodisability, Paediatrics or Paediatric Neurology (OR within six months of CCT at time of scheduled interview.)
- Valid Level 3 Safeguarding Training
- Valid BLS Training
- Experience of working in a tertiary UK movement therapy centre, offering intervention such as botulinum toxin injections, or patient selection and management of ITB or DBS
- Experience of working in a saliva control service
- Experience of working in a rehabilitation service
- Valid APLS and NLS
