Bookkeeper | Finance Manager

Overview

We are working exclusively with an established Bedford based business looking to appoint an experienced Bookkeeper to join them on a permanent, part-time basis.

This is a varied, hands-on position for someone who enjoys taking ownership of the day-to-day finance function, working closely with the Directors and ensuring the numbers are accurate and everything runs as it should.

Key Responsibilities

The role will include:

• Day to day bookkeeping and maintaining accurate financial records
• Purchase and sales ledger
• Bank, supplier and customer reconciliations
• Invoicing, credit control and payment runs
• Payroll preparation and processing
• Supporting month end and VAT submissions
• Preparing financial information for the Directors and external accountants
• Maintaining strong financial controls and investigating discrepancies
• Some wider business and HR administration

The Candidate

You will have strong practical accounts experience, ideally gained within a hands on finance environment, with experience across reconciliations, ledgers, credit control and payroll. You will also be confident using Excel and accounting software such as Xero, Sage, QuickBooks or similar.

You will be organised, dependable and naturally inquisitive, with the confidence to investigate when something does not look quite right.

With 22 – 30  hours per week and flexibility around how these are worked, this could be a great opportunity for someone looking for a responsible and varied part time role where they can really take ownership.

Remuneration

• £20.00 – £24.00 per hour (depending on experience)
• 22 – 30 hours per week – with flexibility when these hours are worked
• Hybrid working
• 28 days holiday including bank holidays (Pro-rata)
• On-site parking

The role is based in Bedford and is easily commutable from Milton Keynes, Luton, St Albans, Stevenage, Harpenden, Hitchin, Dunstable, Leighton Buzzard and the surrounding areas.
