To provide highly specialist clinical psychology assessment, formulation and interventions to adults with learning disabilities who present with highly complex difficulties, as well as their systems of support (e.g. family/staff/carers). This includes the provision of therapeutic groups and consultative advice and support. To lead our dementia pathway, whilst maintaining and developing the well-established links with the mainstream memory service in Salford and other mainstream dementia services. About us

Responsibilities will include training colleagues, carers and paid staff, to help build capacity and capability within the workforce. MDT working will be integral to the role, including involvement in MDT meetings and regular liaison and joint working with professional colleagues, including support of the wider team in relation to psychological aspects of care and management of risk. The post holder will supervise the assistant psychologist and as part of an 8a role will also supervise a trainee on placement. To promote an understanding of the psychological needs of people with learning disabilities by taking part in professional communications, education, policy development and audit and research. The post holder will be required to work autonomously and be accountable for own actions, carried out within professional standards, including, HCPC, BPS and trust policies and values, with support from regular clinical supervision with the Consultant. Qualifications
Essential
- BPS recognised BSc in Psychology
- Doctoral level training in clinical psychology
- Completion of Supervisor Training appropriate to supervise trainees
- Current HCPC registration
- Member of the British Psychological Society (BPS) including the Faculty of Learning Disabilities
Essential
- Well-developed knowledge of the theory and practice of specialised psychological therapies (ideally in relation to clients with learning disabilities and/or autism)
- Understanding of Positive Behaviour Support approaches
- Knowledge and experience of implementing highly specialised psychological therapies and assessment methodologies
