French Teaching Role in an Independent School
An independent school in Norfolk is seeking to appoint a talented and enthusiastic French Teacher to join its successful Modern Foreign Languages department from September. This is a full-time role within a nurturing and academically ambitious school that values languages, cultural awareness, and exceptional teaching.
French is a highly regarded subject within the school, with students encouraged to develop fluency, confidence, and cultural understanding through a broad and engaging curriculum.
About the Role
You will teach French across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4, and Key Stage 5, delivering engaging and intellectually stimulating lessons that inspire confidence and linguistic curiosity.
Students will develop skills in speaking, listening, reading, and writing while studying grammar, translation, literature, and cultural themes linked to the French-speaking world.
You will prepare students for GCSE and A-Level French examinations, supporting students in achieving excellent academic outcomes and progression to higher education.
You may also have the opportunity to contribute to wider MFL enrichment opportunities, including language clubs, cultural visits, exchange programmes, and international learning experiences.
You will work collaboratively within a successful MFL department while benefiting from smaller class sizes, excellent resources, and a strong focus on personalised learning.
Key Responsibilities
Teach French across KS3, KS4, and KS5
Deliver engaging speaking, listening, reading, and writing lessons
Prepare students for GCSE and A-Level French examinations
Assess student work and provide clear, constructive feedback
Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records
Contribute to curriculum planning and departmental development
Support language enrichment and cultural opportunities
Maintain high standards of classroom engagement and achievement

Candidate Requirements
Essential Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Experience teaching French at secondary level
Ability to teach KS3 and KS4 confidently
Strong subject knowledge in French
Strong classroom management and communication skills
Desirable
Experience teaching A-Level French
Ability to teach an additional language
Experience working in an independent school setting
Ability to contribute to language enrichment opportunities
