An opportunity has arisen for an experienced and motivated Registered Nurse to join the nursing leadership team on Ward P2 within the Cambridge Movement Surgical Hub (CMSH). CMSH provides elective surgical care, predominantly for patients undergoing orthopaedic and neuro-spinal surgery, within a dedicated surgical hub environment.
You will act as a positive role model, support the development of registered and unregistered staff, and contribute to continuous improvement of patient experience, safety and service delivery.
Main duties of the job
The Junior Sister / Junior Charge Nurse will provide clinical and professional leadership to the nursing team and will regularly take charge of the ward, ensuring safe, effective and high-quality patient care. Working closely with the Ward Manager, Modern Matron and multidisciplinary team, the post holder will support the day-to-day clinical and operational management of Ward P2, including patient safety, patient flow, staffing, discharge planning and maintenance of high professional standards.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
Registered Nurse with current NMC registration.
Evidence of continuing professional development.
Teaching, mentoring, Practice Assessor or equivalent qualification/experience.
Relevant post-registration qualification or willingness to undertake further study appropriate to the specialty.
Desirable criteria
Degree or evidence of study at degree level.
Relevant leadership or management development.
Research, audit or quality-improvement qualification/module.
Experience
Essential criteria
Demonstrable clinical nursing experience within an acute and/or surgical environment.
Ability to demonstrate a high standard of clinical nursing practice.
Experience of coordinating patient care and/or taking charge of a clinical area.
Evidence of supervision, preceptorship, mentorship or practice assessment of staff/students.
Experience of formal and/or informal teaching.
Ability to accept personal accountability for own professional practice.
Desirable criteria
Previous experience acting as Nurse in Charge.
Experience within orthopaedics, spinal/neurosurgery or elective surgical care.
Experience supporting audit, incident investigation or quality-improvement work.
Experience supporting staff management or development.
