Context

SYSTRA Ltd is growing across the UK, delivering complex infrastructure projects for clients across the transport and built environment sectors. This is a great opportunity to join a respected engineering team working on high-profile and technically challenging schemes.

We are looking for a Senior Bridges Engineer to lead engineering tasks and support the management of engineers, designers, graduates and apprentices, helping to deliver client projects efficiently and effectively while meeting business and project objectives.

Missions/Main Duties

Lead and contribute to the design and integration of bridge engineering projects, ensuring delivery to agreed quality, time and budget targets.
Monitor project performance against contractual and quality requirements, taking corrective action where needed.
Manage checking and approval processes to ensure compliance with client, project and SYSTRA procedures.
Prepare and review engineering designs and calculations, taking responsibility for design production and technical quality.
Communicate project requirements clearly and effectively across the team.
Act as Work Package Manager on small to medium-sized projects where required.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant technical standards and bridge engineering requirements.
Support business development and winning work activities where needed.
Promote high standards of health, safety and environmental compliance throughout the design lifecycle.
Contribute to business improvement initiatives and wider team objectives.
Lead, support and mentor engineers, designers, graduates and apprentices to help deliver successful project outcomes.

Profile/Skills

Strong experience in bridge engineering and the delivery of multidisciplinary infrastructure projects.
Degree level or equivalent in your relevant engineering discipline.
Previous experience in working with offshore production centres is desirable.
Confident working across multiple projects, with the ability to plan effectively and deliver to programme.
Proven ability to achieve business results through effective planning and implementation.
Experience of project planning, delivery, budgets and timescales.
Working toward Chartered Engineer status with a relevant professional body such as ICE, IET, IMechE or equivalent.
Good knowledge of CDM Regulations and CSM Regulations.
Ability to transfer technical knowledge and standards effectively to junior engineers, apprentices and graduates.
Experience using bridge calculation software such as LUSAS, MIDAS, Autodesk Structural Bridge Design or Sofistik.
Strong understanding of bridge surveys, review processes and the preparation of corrective action recommendations.
Experience in both rail and highways bridge engineering and relevant technical standards is desirable.
Knowledge of change request management, including liaison with project management and project controls, highlighting cost and programme implications.
