SEND Primary Teacher

Axcis Education are looking for a primary teacher to deliver primary aged curriculum to students aged 9-14 and who will predominantly be working below age related expectations and have complex SEND needs. This is a permanent position (temp to perm), starting on 7th September (Interviews to be conducted from week commencing 10th and 17th August 2026).

Key Information:
•The school is an independent specialist school based near Newton Abbot (due to location, you must be able to drive and have your own vehicle).
•Salary ranges from £26,256-£39,575, depending on SEND experience and teaching experience.
•Hours: Monday to Friday, 8.45am – 4:45pm
•Position: Permanent (Temp to perm)
•Start Date: 7th September 2026

About the Role:
•Working alongside teachers and support staff, you will play a key role in helping students access learning, develop confidence, and engage positively with school life.
•You must be able to drive, as part of your role will be commuting between sites in and around Totnes.
•You must have an enthusiasm for supporting students with complex needs, who may struggle to self-regulate.

Your responsibilities will include:

•Supporting students with SEMH on a one-to-one basis and in small groups (Maths & English support)
•Assisting with classroom activities and learning tasks
•Encouraging positive behaviour and emotional development
•Helping to create a calm, structured, and nurturing environment

About the School

•The school supports students aged 9–16 whose needs cannot be met in mainstream education.
•All pupils have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) related to Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
