Community Projects Squad Coach

£30k per annum

Job description

Role: To lead and support the delivery of community-based projects, focusing on engaging and supervising young people 16-19 years of age (Vocational Students,) some with neurodiverse needs supporting them during the delivery of projects, and from training into work placement. The role prioritises structured support, effective communication, and consistent delivery against agreed work plans.

Responsibilities

  • Work in Partnership and Dialogue with Community, Businesses & Residents.
  • Create and maintain effective working partnerships with local community organisations, charities and businesses.
  • Create and maintain effective working partnerships with local residents’ associations and housing associations.
  • Promote our services to determine, plan and support scheduled maintenance works.
  • Training to Placement Transition.
  • Support young people in progressing from training programmes into real-world placements.
  • Liaise closely with Tutors and VET Team, to promote access and oversight of the projects.
  • Prepare participants for the workplace, including expectations, routines, and basic employability skills.
  • Monitor progress and provide ongoing support where needed.
  • Work closely with individuals to build independence, work readiness, and life skills.
  • Communicate effectively with young people, families, colleagues, and external partners.
  • Provide clear, concise updates on participant progress and project status.
  • Break down tasks into manageable steps aligned with individual capabilities.
  • Neurodiversity-Focused Delivery.
  • Provide feedback and updates to relevant colleagues E.g. P&D Tutors, VET Etc.
  • Deliver activities in line with pre-agreed plans of work and project objectives.
  • Track progress, outcomes, and participant engagement.

  • Full preparation, loading and driving of our dedicated work van, to ensure the jobs have the equipment and materials for day to day running.
  • Adapt communication and coaching approaches to suit individual learning needs.
  • Implement strategies that support focus, routine, and achievement.
  • Follow all safeguarding policies and procedures rigorously.
  • Ensure health & safety standards are maintained across all activities.
  • Keep accurate records in line with organisational requirements.
  • Build positive relationships across community networks.
  • Safeguarding & Compliance.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • A full and clean driving licence.
  • Proven experience supervising or supporting young people.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Experience working with neurodiverse individuals or those with additional needs.
  • Ability to manage groups.

Times: 08.30 am - 16.45 pm (Monday-Thursday) & 08.30 am - 16.45 pm (Friday) Context: Impact Training (NI) Ltd, opened in 1978, are a community-based charity and training provider. In more recent years, and to aid world of work experiences for our students, we have taken on a raft of community-based projects that support the employability of our students, and also provides a complimentary works and maintenance service to the wider community. Community projects have grown to the extent that we now require a proficient and dedicated staff member to supervise, participate with and oversee squads of students who will be delivering these projects. Whilst a full schedule of community squad activities is yet to be determined, the community projects will have a key focus on the supervision of teams of painters and the delivery of general cosmetics works. The role will be guided and supported by our current P&D Tutors and VET Team representative as well as other vocational tutors based on specific tasks. Projects will also have components of general environmental clean-up’s such as garden projects for the elderly and disabled.
