We are looking for a Specialist in Special Care Dentistry to join our growing community dental service team dedicated to improving the care for patients across Shropshire and Telford and Wrekin.

These are our services: Children's and Special Care Dentistry, Urgent Care through Dental Access Centres, Salaried Dental Practices, Out of Hours and On Call Emergency Dental Services. Our aim is to ensure we provide the best possible care for vulnerable people who do not easily access, or whose needs are unable to be met by General Dental Practice Services.

The Children's and Special Care service is provided from three well equipped clinical sites (Oswestry, Shrewsbury and Dawley, Telford) and in partnership with our acute hospital sites.

Main duties of the job
As a specialist in special care dentistry within the Planned Care Service Delivery Group you will have the opportunity to influence the development and delivery of both CDS care pathways and those across The Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin Community and Hospitals NHS Group with which they integrate. As a clinical leader your values, skills, knowledge and experience will impact on the care we provide across professions and teams. You will have a role in service development, governance and the strategic direction of Special care dentistry within the Community Dental Service.

Applicants should have clinical experience in treating patients with a wide range of complex additional needs, in a variety of settings and have proven skills in providing treatment under GA and conscious sedation. You will be on the GDC Specialist list for Special Care Dentistry or within 6 months of completion of the specialist training programme as an Str in special care dentistry.

Applicants must have full GDC registration, a VT number or can demonstrate equivalent VT experience. Applicants must meet the requirements for the employment of a Dental Performer under NHS Contract and for inclusion on the National Performers list as determined by NHS England.
