Sport and Wellness Assistant

The Sport and Wellness Service manages the university sport facilities and provides opportunities for students, staff, and our local community to Be Active, Be Social, and Be Competitive through sport and physical activity to improve health and wellbeing, enhance sports performance, create a sense of belonging, and generate social value. The Service advocates for healthy lifestyles across all campuses and works with other internal teams – from the Schools and Students’ Union to Health and Wellbeing and Widening Participation – to achieve positive outcomes.

Duties and responsibilities
The Sport and Wellness Assistant will provide excellent customer service to all users of CitySport. They are responsible for triaging all enquires, completing Leisure Management System administration, and controlling access into CitySport. The post holder is also responsible for setting up activity zones for bookings, cleaning, and facilitating sport sessions. This is an exciting opportunity for someone looking to start their career in the sport and fitness sector. 

As a Sport and Wellness Assistant, the post holder will complete reception, sports hall, and studio related opening and closing tasks and checks prior to opening and upon closure of the facility. This will include early morning, late evening, middle, and weekend shifts, on a scheduled rota. The current opening hours of the facilities can be found on our website.

Skills and experience

• Educated to Level 2 GCSE level, including English and Maths
• An ability and willingness to work shifts to enable CitySport to be open during the scheduled hours
• First Aid at Work certification, or willingness to obtain
• Sports coaching certificate, or willingness to obtain
• Have a good standard of fitness to undertake manual work
