We want you to #JOINTHEREBELLION!
For 30 years we’ve been independently developing and publishing incredible video games at our multiple studios founded by Jason & Chris Kingsley, but Rebellion is more than just games. We have our own film studio, we create board games, publish books, and through 2000AD, publish comics and graphic novels such as the amazing Judge Dredd.
We’re looking for a talented and experienced Senior Environment Artist to help drive the visual quality of an exciting unannounced title. This is a fantastic opportunity to join the team behind the Sniper Elite series and fresh off the success of Atomfall, our biggest launch to date.
As a Senior Environment Artist you will have ownership of entire levels, collaborating closely with other departments. Your role is to create both props and environments in a realistic art style for one of our unannounced projects. You will have a large amount of autonomy and will be expected to work proactively from loose briefs that require prototyping and research, picking up tasks you find along the way while keeping an eye on the big picture. This role may also include some outsource feedback. A high level of autonomy is expected from this level, so a proactive attitude and a curious mindset are critical.
This role can be based at any of our Oxford, Warwick or Runcorn studios, each offering a creative and relaxed atmosphere where teamwork drives our success. We can provide a relocation package, including moving assistance, temporary accommodation and full support to ensure a smooth transition to your new environment.
Responsibilities :
- Create environments in tight collaborations with level designers.
- Assist in planning out the space, with consideration of narrative and visual storytelling, while documenting intentions.
- Create functional assets which can be shared across the project in respect of the technical and artistic constraints.
- Communicate and collaborate with key stakeholders to confirm task direction and consistency of own work.
- Ensure the technical and artistic quality of the project by collaborating with technical artists and make changes when necessary.
- Implement and incorporate feedback from producers and project leads.
- Support the Lead Environment Artist in any ad hoc tasks and duties.
- Be an active mentor and role model for the environment art team. Work to maintain morale and create an atmosphere of creativity and enthusiasm.
Requirements
- Strong experience working in a professional game development environment, including profiling and optimising scenes for current gen platforms.
- Experience in lighting environments in a game engine.
- Good knowledge of any 3D software, but Blender is preferred.
- Knowledge of Substance Painter, PBR material workflow and high-to-low baking.
- Experience in gathering your own reference and utilising it efficiently when creating 3D art.
- The ability to create clean models with accurate texel density and game-ready geometry.
- A good eye for composition, scale, and lighting.
- The ability to present work in a professional manner, be adaptable in the face of direction changes and be open-minded towards learning new systems and workflows.
Benefits
We offer an extensive benefits package to our team including:
- 22 days holidays + Christmas closure (typically 4 days) & Bank holidays (increasing with service at 5 years – one day each year until you reach 31 days)
- Private Medical Insurance, healthcare cash plan, including dental and Vision
- Life Assurance, Income Protection & Critical Illness Cover
- Enhanced Family Leave
- Interest Free, Tax-Free loans
- Enhanced Pension Scheme
- EAP a range of Mental Health and Wellbeing Support
- Plus loads more… including a wide range of discounts, freebies, and social events!
Right to Work Statement
This role is only open to applicants who have the permanent right to work in the UK. We are unable to provide or take over visa sponsorship, either now or in the future. Applicants must therefore be able to demonstrate their ongoing eligibility to work in the UK without the need for employer sponsorship.
