The successful candidate will work towards a nationally recognised Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification whilst gaining valuable hands-on experience in a thriving primary school environment.

Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you'll do at work
As a Teaching Assistant Apprentice, no two days are the same. You will work closely with teachers and pupils across the school, helping to create a positive and engaging learning environment.
Typical duties may include:
- Supporting pupils in class with their learning activities
- Working with small groups or individual children under the guidance of the class teacher
- Helping to prepare and organise classroom resources and displays
- Assisting with reading, phonics, maths and other curriculum activities
- Supporting children during playtimes, lunchtimes and educational visits where appropriate
- Encouraging positive behaviour and promoting the school's values
- Helping pupils to develop confidence, independence and social skills
- Assisting with the assessment and recording of pupil progress
- Supporting children with additional needs where required
This role provides an excellent opportunity to gain firsthand experience of working within a busy and successful primary school while making a real difference to children's education.

What you'll learn

- Comply with legislation, guidance, and procedures for Prevent, safeguarding and health & safety.
- Support the well-being and mental health of learners.
- Observe, record, and report on learners in line with organisational procedures.
- Apply methods of formative assessment.
- Use up to date technology safely, to support learning.
- Encourage safe use of technology by learners.
- Adapt teaching strategies to support all learners (for example, scaffolding, open questioning).
- Identify and respond to pastoral and academic behaviours in learners.
- Provide feedback to learners.
- Apply strategies to support and encourage the development of independent learners.

Training schedule
The successful candidate will complete a recognised Teaching Assistant Level 3 apprenticeship standard alongside their day-to-day role in school.
Training will include:
- Dedicated off-the-job training delivered by the apprenticeship provider
- Development of knowledge, skills and behaviours required to become an effective Teaching Assistant
- Safeguarding and child protection training
- Supporting teaching and learning within the classroom
- Understanding child development and educational practice
- Behaviour management and effective communication techniques
- Regular reviews and support from both the training provider and an experienced school mentor
The apprentice will have opportunities to learn from experienced teachers and support staff, gaining valuable practical experience throughout the programme.

Essential qualifications
GCSE in:
Math's & English (grade Grade 4 or above)
Share if you have other relevant qualifications and industry experience. The apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know.
