About this Role
Work where it matters most, achieve what matters more
Be part of a team where passion meets purpose, as we work together where the challenge is greatest to change the lives and build the futures of children and young people.
Ormiston NEW Academy is looking for a Teacher of Humanities. Teaching and indeed inspirational teaching are at the heart of what we are doing here. If you are passionate and committed to transforming the lives of students, then we want you to join us.
About the Academy
Ormiston NEW Academy caters for 11- to 19-year-olds, with 1,088 students on roll. We provide a vibrant learning environment with first-class facilities, and we have been graded Ofsted 'Good'. We are a school based on a clear and defined pedagogical model and explicitly taught behavioural norms. This is creating a place of joy, industry and excellence that is rapidly growing. The latest inspection report praises the school’s leaders for creating a "culture where positive behaviour and discipline are celebrated". It says that NEW Academy is a “vibrant school”, that students “enjoy coming to” and where they are “safe”. Students at NEW Academy understand that they must try their best and strive for excellence at all times.
Standing out from the crowd in the education sector, amongst so many bold claims and buzz words, is difficult but we think you'll be interested in the way we do things here. Our thoughtful approach, driven by your expertise, ensures that we are creating the best opportunities for young people. So, come and visit us, challenge us, talk to us. We're good at listening and we’re relentless in wanting the best for our students, staff and extended community.
Why work for Ormiston?
Our vision is to create a school system where every child thrives, regardless of background. Our people are at the heart of our approach – they are our greatest asset.
We exist to provide the best learning opportunities every day, in every school for every child. It is the people and teams in our Trust who make this a reality and ensure we have the greatest impact. If you join us at Ormiston, whatever your role, your work will have purpose and meaning
Ormiston, where every member of staff enjoys…

- Being part of a team and community where you belong – being part of a well-resourced and ambitious network of experts and professionals that work at the heart of communities
- A supportive environment to grow your career – an extensive professional development programme, alongside flexible working arrangements and generous benefits
As a staff member at an Ormiston Academies Trust (OAT) academy, you can expect a comprehensive benefits package designed to support your professional development, personal well-being, and work-life balance.
